Swan lake: Pas De Quatre Strictly come dancing

Posted By Michael Wheeler on November 28, 2009

Tonight is Strictly come dancing!  The night you the audience decides the fate of young people wishing to dance like a star.

However, there is just a tiny weeny bit more to dancing like a star , if one is going to last into the annuls of artistic history. Ballet originated in  France in the 16th century . All ballet movements are named in French. Anyone learning dance from scratch would to start with ballet. It is the foundation of all dance disciplines in terms of balance , posture and movement. Ballet dance works (ballets) are choreographed  and performed by trained artists, include mime and acting, and are set to music (usually orchestral but occasionally vocal ). Hardly the Lady GaGa of yesteryear  but the principles continue today !

From London to New York, from LA to Paris, this Pas de Quatre will exhume the values of both beauty and grace wherever it shall be. This is the X Factor of our time.

The “Pas de Quatre” is a ballet divertissement, a ballet with no plot, but just a choreography for the demonstration of technique.

The “Pas de Quatre” represents the first effort in the history of ballet to persuade four of the most famous ballerinas to appear together. M TaglionI, C. Crisi, F Cerrito, and L. Grahn.
Even though the dancers caused greats problems to the choreographer J. Perrot with their requirements, the performance that took place in London 1845, to music by C.Pugni, left the public and critics, speechless, and was discussed for a long time after.

This choreography is the best interpretation of the romantic era of dance.
