Toddlers and Tiaras: Daily Mail Sued For Sexualizing 5 year old Isabella Barrett.

If your  kind of  guilty pleasure is watching the hilarious abomination known as Toddlers & Tiaras, then this is probably going to come as a shock to you. Toddlers & Tiaras is the American reality show about the screwed up world of child beauty pageants.

Unsurprisingly many have thrown lumps of negative critique at the show, it’s concept, it’s contestants and in no mean part, the mothers who push their daughters into such a show. (Sorry to state this publicly but some of those mothers just remind of that hyena in the Omen.)

On January 18th The Daily Mail published this article about 5 year-old Isabella Barrett. In it they asserted that the Barretts were “partying” at a “nightclub” at 11pm, and that Isabella was “gyrating to the music”. The paper published pictures and a video (scroll down to view.)

The Barretts were none too happy with that so they’ve just filed a $30 million lawsuit against The Daily Mail, The Huffington Post and TMZ. In the papers filed earlier today the Barretts are claiming that The Daily Mail together with TMZ and the Huffington Post have sexualized their 5-year-old daughter Isabella by posting the video in which Isabella sings along to LMFAO’s “I’m Sexy And I Know It” at the club in NYC.

“(Isabella) did not understand the concept of sex, let alone ‘sex appeal’ and could not have been singing about her own sex appeal. It is the defendants who, through their articles, have thrust these false and vulgar characteristics on to Isabella. As a result, Isabella is now perceived sexually, erotically and pornographically, and (the stories) have placed Isabella in serious physical danger, attracting the attention of others who would seek to sexualize a child.”

Lets face it lawsuits make the world go round and I’ve had a few thrown my way recently but you know nobody does gross the way a mother who turns her daughter into performing freak can do gross.

I can’t see the Mail’s legal department grabbing their prayer cloths and telling their in house priest they’ll be be sleeping in the confessional booth tonight so file this mess under NO CHANCE.
